Our 2019 Annual Appeal
From books to bikes to backpacks, your support of the Millinocket Memorial Library opens doors to a world of ideas, opportunities, and adventures. Our mission to enrich lives and build community is as relevant today as it was 100 years ago when the library was established in a single room on the Gonya block of Central Street. However, in order to keep our doors open, we need your help.
Each year, we are responsible for raising $100,000 to cover the basic operating costs of our library. These funds are raised through a combination of grants, fundraisers, and support from our Friends and the Town. This year, we must raise $20,000 through this end-of-year appeal to you. You can be part of the hope and energy that MML adds to our community by making a tax-deductible donation in 2019.
Thanks to your donation, if you step into the library on any given day, you will no doubt see someone reading, but you might also find students playing chess with our local police chief. You might learn how to use a computer program, make a linoleum print, use Google Maps, or even winterize a beehive. One of our interns might help you check out a mountain bike for the first time. Or maybe you’ll just enjoy the simple pleasure of being in a warm space with your friends and neighbors.
In practice, your donation extends far beyond the walls of our building. The Millinocket Memorial Library is a part of the movement to strengthen this region and rebuild our economy. The work that we do, together, embodies the grit and resilience that define our town. You are already a part of this movement in so many ways. As our patrons, our donors, our volunteers, our community members you are what makes the library special, but as the year comes to an end, we need your support.
Will you donate $25, $50, $100, or more to keep this vital community resource operating at full capacity in 2020? I sincerely thank you for your support and look forward to working with you this year and many years to come!
